All three Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra models are powered by stunning AI features that define a better user experience, however, several users are worried about the Samsung S24 Series Not Charging or Slow Charging Issue.
About the slow charging or doesn’t charge issue, Samsung Galaxy devices have been one of the common smartphones to encounter for a couple of years. Although the issue is limited to a couple of Galaxy S24 series owners, we’re not aware of the actual reason behind it. Meanwhile, the OEM is also reluctant to provide any specific acknowledgment because it’s not a widespread issue. As per reports, unfortunate users are unable to fast charge or the devices don’t even charge properly.
Fix Samsung S24 Series Not Charging or Slow Charging Issue
To fix these issues, follow the below tips.
1. Restart Your Handset
- Press and hold the Power + Volume Down button until the ‘Power menu’ appears.
- Now, you can release the buttons.
- Tap on Restart > Hit Restart again to confirm.
- Once done, you can check for the charging issue.
2. Turn On/Off Fast and Super Fast Charging
- Go to Settings > Tap on Battery and device care.
- Tap on Battery > Hit More battery settings.
- Now, enable/disable Fast charging.
- Enable/disable Super fast charging.
- You can also enable/disable Fast wireless charging.
Please Note: You should turn off the screen to maximize the charging efficiency. If a lightning symbol is displayed on the cover screen that means fast charging is working.
3. Optimize the System on Your Device
- Go to Settings > Tap on Battery and device care.
- Tap on Optimise now.
- Wait for the process to complete.
- Tap on Done > Reboot the device.
- Finally, check for the charging status.
4. Clear the Cache Partition
- Press and hold the Volume Down + Power buttons for a while.
- Tap on Power Off > Wait for the device to switch off.
- Now, connect the device to the PC via a USB cable.
- Press and hold the Volume Up + Power buttons for a while until the Samsung logo appears.
- After booting into the Recovery menu, release the keys.
- Next, use the volume keys to navigate to the Wipe cache partition option.
- Then press the Power button to confirm it.
- Use the volume keys to navigate to Yes.
- Hit the Power button to confirm the same.
- Wait for it to complete and then disconnect the USB cable.
- You can go back to the recovery menu and select Reboot device now.
- Once done, check for the charging issue again
5. Update the System Software
- Go to Settings > Tap on Software update.
- Tap on Download and install.
- If an update is available, allow it to install.
- Wait until the software update is installed.
- Once done, reboot the handset.
6. Check for the Charging Port
- Power Off your device > Use a cotton earbud to clean the charging port gently.
- Do not use water to clean it.
- Any kind of hard object inserted into the port for cleaning might result in damaging the port.
- If the charging port is still jammed or physically damaged, ask for professional help.
7. Check for the Charging Cable and Adapter
It’s always recommended to use the official stock charging cable and adapter to charge your Samsung Galaxy S24 series. Though third-party or local chargers look similar to the original ones, there is a huge difference in their quality and charging speed. There will also be differences in voltage with the local chargers. Even if you’re using an official charger, cross-check the physical damage to the charging cable or adapter. If there is an issue, ask for a replacement or get a new charger. You can also try using another charger from Samsung with the correct wattage so check for fast charging.
8. Try Using the Wireless Charging
In case, the above methods didn’t help, be sure to use the wireless charging or wireless powershare feature on your Samsung Galaxy S24 series to check for charging-related conflicts. Ensure to remove cases or covers and then lay the back side of the device onto the wireless charging pad. Do keep in mind to properly line up the charging coils to get better charging support. Otherwise, you can also try using Wireless PowerShare via another Qi-enabled device directly. That device will also have to be wireless charging compatible.
9. Dry Your Water Exposed Device
Your device will not charge properly or doesn’t charge at all when it’s exposed to the water or moisture inside the USB port. Well, OEMs design software in such a way that prevents charging with moisture to protect the device & corrosion. Just keep it under sunlight or under a light to dry. Otherwise, use a hair dryer to dry your water-exposed device easily.
- Open Settings > Tap on Apps.
- Tap on the filter icon (you can also three vertical dots).
- Now, tap on Show system apps.
- Hit OK > Tap on USBSettings.
- Go to Storage > Tap on Clear data and Clear cache.
- Once done, reboot the device, and charge it again.
10. Use Another Power Source or Outlet
The chances are high that somehow your existing power source or outlet has some issues with the power delivery. It’s suggested to use a different power outlet or source such as power banks, computer USB, etc to check for the charging issue again. It might be possible that your current power outlet has some issues with loose or wobbly connectivity as well as insufficient voltage.
11. Use Samsung Members to Run a Test
- Connect your Galaxy S24 series to the charging.
- Open the Samsung Members app.
- Tap Support > Tap on View Tests.
- Now, tap on Battery status.
- Then tap on Cable charging to check your hardware status.
12. Reset App Preferences
- Open the Settings app > Tap on Apps.
- Tap on the Menu icon on the upper-right side.
- Hit Reset app preferences.
- Select Reset apps to confirm.
- Once done, reboot the handset, and check for the charging issue.
13. Perform the Factory Data Reset
As a final resort, you can try performing a factory data reset method on your Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup models by following the steps below. It’ll remove the media files & documents stored in the onboard storage, saved configurations, Google account, etc. So, you should always take a full data backup manually or sync the Google backup before jumping into the data reset.
- Go to Settings > Tap on General Management.
- Hit Reset > Select Factory data reset.
- Check for the details and tap on Reset.
- If prompted, enter the PIN, pattern, or password.
- Tap on Delete all.
- Wait for the process to complete.
- Your device will automatically boot into the system.
- Again wait for the system to boot as it may take some time.
- Go through the initial setup process.
- Connect your device to the charger and check for the issue.
